Problem/Rules Questions and Clarifications
Questions and clarifications regarding the 2012 Spong Tournament Rules and Problem will be posted on this page. As stated in the 2012 Spong Tournament Rules, please contact Jessica Delaney at jldelaney@email.wm.edu with any questions.
- Q. May teams review or otherwise use the 2011 Spong Tournament Problem to prepare for the 2012 Tournament?
A. The 2012 Spong Tournament will focus on and be governed only by the 2012 Problem and Rules as registered teams will receive; teams should not address or reference the 2011 Problem or Rules in 2012, and the 2011 materials are in no way relevant to the 2012 Tournament. The availability of the 2011 Problem would not provide any advantage in the 2012 Tournament. However, in the interest of providing a level playing field, the 2011 Problem is available on this website by clicking “2011 Spong Problem” in the navigation sidebar to the right or clicking here.
(Nov. 1, 2011) - Q. When will brief graders receive the briefs, and when will they be due?
A. Briefs will be sent to designated graders on Tuesday, January 10. The graders will have a full month for grading, following the provided rubric (see Appendix II of the Rules). The deadline for graders to return their scores is Friday, February 10.
(Nov. 18, 2011) - Q. If our school sends two teams, can we decide who is petitioner and who is respondent?
A. See the Rules; teams will be assigned sides by Jessica Delaney, the Spong Tournament Justice – Teams.
